Founded 77 years ago, the Schenectady Photographic Society
offers programs and activities in the photographic arts for amateur and professional
photographers alike. Over two hundred members from throughout the Capital New York Region
share the theory, application and fun of photography at Society meetings.
Weekly Wednesday night meetings offer an assortment of programs, new ideas and techniques, and refreshment
breaks for social exchange. Occasional field trips, photo shoots and workshops offer
hands-on instruction and image making opportunities.
Six program groups - print, projected image, photo essay, mentoring, digital and fine arts
- help members expand their photographic vision and creativity through professionally judged competitions,
peer critiques and through group discussions and instruction. The print, projected image and digital groups
normally meet on the first, second and third Wednesdays of the month, respectively. The other groups alternate
between the fourth (and fifth) Wednesdays of the month.
Visitors are cordially invited to attend all meetings.
